ART…Art…art…It’s the 45th Reeds Lake Art Fair
Make sure you head over to East Grand Rapids this Saturday the 19th of June to experience every tantalizing piece of this really cool art show. The 45th annual Reeds Lake Clothesline Art Fair will be in full swing.
It’s a juried event – which means the artists must submit their portfolios to the selection committee and only the best of the best artists are selected to display their art at this Fair. Over 500 artists applied and only 150 were selected – so you are really lucky to see such top quality all in one place.
You’ll see jewelry – photos – pottery – sculptures – glass – baskets – prints – paintings – and much more as you leisurely stroll through the festival. Don’t forget your check book or bank card – you not only are invited to look and to feel the excitement but also buy a cool piece of art!
…and the food – lots of great food booths and local restaurants nearby – Rose’s – Olives – Derby Station – where you can sit outside and people watch while you give your feet a break.
Give a big Hurrah! to my friend and client Robyn Bomhof – who is the president of the Grand Valley Artists, Inc. and was instrumental in putting this all together.
Brief history – I’ve been attending this art fair for years. It was named the clothesline art fair because it started on the lawn of John Collin’s Park on the banks of Reeds Lake and the art was hung on clotheslines. I remember well some very rainy art fair days where the mud was oozing under our feet and we still marched through it and bought some art. Never fear – times have changed and the art booths are set up on the streets(which are closed for the fair) – no more mud on your art.
Go have a great time and let me know what you bought – I’d love to hear about your experiences!
